What is Broken Symphony?
A new musical about grief, growth, and the importance of connection. Broken Symphony follows the lives of five high-schoolers, all with vastly different personalities, whose paths end up unexpectedly crossing through their shared interest in music. While at first they clash, they slowly start to get along. But what happens behind the scenes, when they all leave school and go back home?
I started writing Broken Symphony when I was 13 years old. Since then, there have been multiple drafts, edits, and revisions, but my original intent has never changed. Often, being a teenager is heavily romanticized, and put in such a glamorous light by our society. But for most, this isn't the case. Broken Symphony tries to tell that story: not shying away from the difficult reality of the world and all its struggles, but focusing instead on the beauty of self-growth and human connection. Because things are never easy, but we are never alone.
